Factors which create the Digital Divide - Technological
There are some countries where the communications infrastructure is poor. This means that people may not have access to telephone lines or may not be able to use a broadband connection.

Even in the UK there are some areas with no access to broadband.

It may be possible to use wireless technology to connect to the Internet in poorer countries.

It may not be just a question of access to the Internet - the quality of the connection and related services may also be an issue. The Internet is not much use if it is unreliable, or if email only works sometimes.

It may not be possible for businesses to install networks if the availability of support and resources is poor.

The speed of development of new technology is increasing the divide.
