Virtual Shopping Basket
When a customer buys items from a transactional website, the items bought are added to a virtual shopping basket.

Items placed in a shopping basket are marked as sold so they cannot be bought by another customer.

The prices of items in the shopping basket are added up so the total amount to pay is displayed.

The customer may at any time view the items in the shopping basket.

The customer may add more items or remove items from the shopping basket. The shopping basket and total amount will automatically be updated.

 

When the customer has finished shopping, the items bought need to be paid for. This is done at the 'checkout' where tax or delivery charges are added to the bill. The customer gives details of payment.
