Distribution of Information
Computer technologies have advanced rapidly in recent years and it is now possible to share information very quickly with others, wherever in the world they are.

There are a number of ways of sharing information:

  • information may be placed on a website and viewed by anyone on the Internet.
  • information may be stored on a company's Intranet and accessed by any of its employees.
  • information may be emailed from one computer user to another.
  • information may stored on backing storage (such as CD or DVD) and given or sent to others.
  • on-line chat
  • information may be faxed.
  • information may be broadcast over digital television.
  • information may be spoken - in face-to-face conversations or over the telephone.

If information is shared, then greater opportunities exist for us to interact with each other.

Example : Students can share ideas or debate topics on-line.

It also allows individuals to interact with businesses.

Example : If we order some goods over the Internet for example, we can keep track of when the order is received, processed and sent. This gives us greater confidence in the business.

Communication of information is an essential part of running a successful business.

Some companies create libraries of information which are accessible on their Intranet, and people are employed to gather information, and make sure it is up-to-date and accurate.
