Spyware is software that covertly
gathers information without the user's knowledge and transmits it through
their Internet connection.
Spyware can often be incorporated into freeware or shareware - so be careful what you download! The Spyware program monitors what the user is doing and transmits it to someone else.

| Spyware can look at what websites a user is visiting and
open relevant pop-up windows with
advertisements. Eg A user visiting a vehicle company's website can have a pop-up window about car insurance.

| Some spyware merely collects marketing
information - but beware - some spyware is malicious
and can collect information such as credit card numbers or passwords.
