Online Databases
Online databases are a valuable source of information that can be accessed through the Internet.

Some examples are:

  • dictionaries giving definitions of words.
  • specialised dictionaries for eg. scientific or technical terms
  • dictionaries for translation of foreign languages.
  • medical databases with information about diseases and treatments.
  • travel timetables
  • databases of 'most wanted' criminals or missing persons.
  • records of political papers or debates.

...and many more...

Most online databases will have a search facility to speed up the process of finding the topic you are looking for.

Some online databases are free but others require you to subscribe, and may be limited to special people such as students in a university.
