There are some people who have concerns that personal data held by
organisations might be used for unscrupulous and sinister purposes. A large
number of organisations hold a vast amount of information about us. Most of
us are unaware of the information that is stored and that makes us
suspicious. We may be worried about possible breaches of our privacy or we may be concerned about infringements of our human rights. What if there are errors in the information that lead to us being refused credit or even wrongfully arrested? How would we prove the information was incorrect? Who would believe us? Civil rights groups are very concerned about the possible introduction of an identity card in the UK. They say that this infringes our rights and liberties.
