Data Processing
Once the data is captured and input, then it is processed.

There are different methods of processing data...

Batch processing - A number of similar jobs are collected and then run together. There is no urgency and the jobs can be processed at off-peak times such as the night or weekend.

Examples : Processing electricity bills.

Real-time processing - Data is processed as soon as it is received by the computer. There is immediate response to any critical data.

Example : Intensive care patient monitoring system.

Real-time transaction processing - Transactions are processed immediately and any files of data are updated. This means the information in the computer system is always up-to-date.

Example : Theatre booking system - No double booking of seats is possible.
