The role of the Course Tutor

Management of the course:

  • Programme of study
  • Staffing
  • Planning/assessment planning
  • Quality
  • Monitoring/progress/attendance
  • Tutorial/Pastoral Care & support for the learners
  • Behaviour
  • Recruitment & initial assessment
  • Course marketing
The role of the Teacher

Planning and delivery of assigned units/modules:

  • Liaison with Course Tutor to plan and prepare teaching/feedback on learners' progress
  • Positive Classroom Management
  • Complete tracking and assessment processes
The role of the Learning Coach

Supporting learners identified as being 'at risk' not to achieve their qualificaitons either through:

  • a 'one off' session
  • a series of sessions
The role of the LSA

Either working with a group or individual learner:

  • To take notes in practical sessions to be used in theory sessions
  • To complete relevant reports/paperwork
  • To support learners with handouts/worksheets-reading and explaining where necessary
  • Adapt resources to meet learner's needs
  • To be an extra pair of eyes in relation to health & safety issues
  • Supervise small group work directed by the tutor
  • Feedback to course tutor/Learning Support Co-ordinator on learner issues
  • Support learners who have fallen behind with their work
  • They are NOT just there for photocopying!!
