To allow students the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective leaders in a chosen public service career.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon the successful completion of this module, the student should be able to:

·         recognise the different types of leadership styles in the public services and analyse the effectiveness of the styles in leadership and by teams;

·         determine the expected organizational culture in the public services in terms of being a professional organisation and determine the impact when culture fails to meet expectations from both government and community;

·         demonstrate knowledge of the role of leaders in shaping organizational culture through management and leadership and reflection on personal leadership development on the role of culture and shaping one’s leadership style.
