The Student Union is run by the students, for the students. Our role is to make sure that student voices are heard at senior management level, engaging students from across the colleges, and creating an inclusive and friendly student community.

The Student Union is designed to represent the voices of the students, and to engage students across all the campuses in socialising and creating a community feeling. We hope to hold events to bring students together and make an atmosphere – more than just an education, a lifestyle.

Once a year the Student Union holds elections on all campuses, where any student can run for a Student Union officer role. All Student Union officers are voted in by the student body - the candidate with the most votes is elected into that role for the next academic year. Find out more on our Elections page.
The Student Union gives you the opportunity to use your voice to improve college life for your fellow students - if you don’t speak up about what works and what doesn’t work, improvements can’t be made. The Student Union is also an opportunity to make friends and enjoy the diverse and vibrant college atmosphere.
Student Union experience is an excellent way to develop your skills and enhance your CV, making you stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs. Not only will it enhance your CV and UCAS statement, it will also give you experience of managing budgets, being creative, showing determination, working to deadlines and running a campaign. You will meet new people and be part of project management, and learn new skills. The Student Union is supported by the Senior Student Involvement and Diversity Officer, who will work with you to provide you with the training and guidance you need to succeed.

Want to set up a student group, society, or club? We can help!
The Student Union encourages students to set up a range of clubs, including sports clubs, music clubs, book clubs, and special interest clubs.
1. Get at least 3 students to sign up
2. Email student-union@nptcgroup.ac.uk to let us know the group name and group leader
3. Ask us if you need any help with promoting the club or finding space to meet.

NPTC Student Union is affiliated to NUS Wales (National Union of Students), the national voice of students helping them to campaign on the issues that matter to students, get student discounts, and provide advice on living student life to the full.
