    Whether you have a hearing condition that is diagnosed, you are receiving treatment for, or believe to be getting worse the college is here to help.  We will try to facilitate, in conjunction with others, an environment conducive to learning; but you can also help yourself.  Whilst some are comfortable about a hearing impairment, many try to hide the issue until they struggle on their chosen course or drop the course totally.  Don't let the situation get that far.  If you feel you can benefit by sitting closer to the lecturer to either hear better or perhaps, lip-read then try to do it from the start of each term and if you are unable to do so then contact us and we will discretely help.  By trying to do this from the start people will be less aware of any hearing issue if you are conscious of it.

    If you feel that some of your needs are not met or wish certain topics to be covered in this section then contact Study Services and we will try to accommodate.

      Hearing Aid Apps URL

      Just like many conditions, hearing impairments are very individual affecting each person in  different ways.  Many overcome their condition by using a hearing aid.  It may be confidence boosting for some to have a back up to their regular hearing aid should an issue arise with it.  There are many hearing aid apps for Android & iPad/Phone that perform general or more specific functions.  Below is a link to a popular Android aid but check other apps suitability before downloading this particular app.

      Speech To Text URL

      For some, not quite catching all a lecturer says can be frustrating and they worry that they have missed an important aspect of a class.  One way of overcoming this is to use speech to text, perhaps, asking the lecturer to speak directly into your app that makes notes.  The link suggests some of the speech to text apps available from Google Play.
